Service Description

Join ceramic artist Denise Muckleroy Young (Happy Turtle Arts) for a three-day Microwave Raku Workshop exploring Raku, Obvara, and Horse Hair firing—safely and efficiently using a microwave kiln. Participants will learn proper safety practices along with techniques, tips, and processes for achieving strong and consistent results. This workshop is open to all levels, from complete beginners to experienced ceramic artists. Starting with wet clay, participants will create small-scale works such as earrings, pendants, magnets, ornaments, bottle stoppers, buttons, mini pottery, or other forms suitable for these firing techniques. The class also includes basic wire-working skills and instruction on safely firing metal wire in a microwave kiln. Each participant will leave with six fully finished pieces and a wealth of technical knowledge.
